Gods and Giants
Durin is the Oldest of the Berseles children. Standing about 5 feet 6 inches tall, he moves with otherworldly quickness and agility. He has dirty blonde hair and platinum eyes that make his Musetouched lineage obvious to a trained eye. At 31 years old, his grizzled appearance makes you think he has seen more trouble than most see in a lifetime.
At the age of 16, he was on a diplomatic trip to Janderhoff with his father when he first learned about the nonexistence of dwarf humor. After playing a prank on a nobleman who had insulted his aasimar lineage, he was arrested and sentenced to 15 years in the Dwarven prison that resides under the Janderhoff capital city. While Lord Donevon protested, he could do nothing to persuade the Dwarven Courts to change their minds and had to accept their lawful findings.
The first few years in jail did not treat Durin well and he would have probably perished in jail had it not been for what Durin, at the time, thought was a chance meeting with a gnome by the name of Filbin “Fibin” Waywalkit. Fibin was in prison for stealing the house of a Dwarven prince, and while this may sounds farfetched to most, he claimed that it was his Waywalkit duty to not just rob the man, but take his entire house. To this day, no one knows where the house went or what happened to the significant wealth it contained. Because of the renown and celebrity this granted Fibin, he held a significant amount of power with the inmates of the prison and made sure that they knew that Durin was no longer to be mistreated.
Over the remaining years of Durin’s sentence he would frequently train with Fibin in the art of stealth, sabotage, misdirection, and magic. On the day of his release from Janderhoff some two years ago, Durin asked the gnome why he helped him all this time and Fibin said “the Waywalkit’s owe a great debt to anyone with the name of Berseles. My great great grandfather was saved from certain death by Vance and Ragnar Berseles and the time I have spent in this prison has been my way of repaying that debt.” With their conversation complete and Durin set to be released that very afternoon, Fibin teleported himself out of the prison and hasn’t been heard from again.
After his release, Durin has made his way across Janderhoff to LastWall, traveling from town to town doing bounty hunting and scouting jobs that would fund his journey home. He was reunited with his family just over a year and a half ago and has since continued his work as a bounty hunter and scout while remaining somewhat reclusive.
